Free occupational health training for SME line managers – funding ends 31 March
Published: 02 March 2026
Small and medium-sized employers across England can now access free, government-funded occupational health training designed to help line managers better support their staff and tackle health-related issues early.
The programme will train up to 5,000 SME line managers by 31 March, giving them practical skills to spot early warning signs such as fatigue, changes in behaviour, or rising absence—and take supportive action before issues escalate. The aim is to reduce sickness absence, improve productivity and help businesses retain skilled employees.
With funding due to end soon, this is a valuable opportunity for SMEs to build healthier, more resilient workplaces at no cost.
