National Inclusion Week 2025
Published: 15 September 2025
As we approach National Inclusion Week 2025 (15–21 September), this year’s theme is #NowIsTheTime. Founded by Inclusive Employers back in 2013 National Inclusion Week aims to celebrate inclusion in the workplace with a clear call to action to build truly inclusive workplaces. Inspiring thought provoking discussions, generating new ideas or launching new initiatives it’s a great way to get inclusive.
The upcoming Employment rights Bill 2024 sets out some changes that will improve fair employment practices. This legislation lays a strong foundation for inclusive practices that uplift the rights of workers and provide meaningful support to families. By improving minimum wage standards, expanding access to statutory sick pay, and offering greater protection for those in precarious or low-income roles, these reforms mark a transformative shift toward healthier, more secure working environments.

So what does inclusion mean in the workplace?
Workplace inclusion is more than equality and fair representation, it’s fed by the culture of an organisation where everyone can come to work and be their authentic self, feel heard, valued and respected creating a sense of trust and belonging. Employees who feel they belong are more likely to stay and contribute meaningfully. Inclusivity ensures everyone is treated fairly, and diversity is recognised as a strength regardless of background or differences. Inclusive workplaces foster trust, collaboration, and innovation by the very nature of encouraging open dialogue, psychological safety, and mutual respect
Why inclusion matters more than ever
This year’s theme is a timely reminder that inclusion must be more than a statement, it must be a strategy and central to how we build resilient, innovative, and compassionate organisations. Ultimately, inclusion isn’t just a moral imperative or a business strategy; it’s a cornerstone of holistic wellbeing, where people thrive both professionally and personally. In today’s evolving workplace, where hybrid models, wellbeing concerns, and cultural shifts dominate the agenda and with prospective employees scrutinising organisational culture now more than they ever have previously inclusive practices are essential to:
- Foster belonging and psychological safety
- Drive innovation through diverse perspectives
- Enhance employee engagement and retention
- Attract and retain the best talent
