Success Story - Buckt

Published: 21 June 2023

How Buckt Scaled Using Business Support

Business Growth West Midlands provide business support programmes, events and grants. But the core of what we offer is access to tailored, one-to-one support, delivered by our teams of expert Business Advisers. In this success story, we see how the support of a Business Adviser helped a growing Birmingham business to receive vital financial investment to escalate their growth.

“I’d recommend any other business leader who’s looking to scale their business to access the free business support available” - Daniel Bridgewater, Founder and CEO of Buckt.

What Buckt Does

Buckt is a ticket subscription service with more than 4500 customers across Birmingham, Manchester, London, and Liverpool. Inspired by the idea of a bucket list, Buckt aims to help subscribers tick something off their list, to go on an adventure and to fall in love with something new in an easy and affordable way. Every month its subscribers receive five mystery tickets to different activities and attractions in their region.

What Financial Support Buckt Received

Daniel reached out for support and was put in touch with a local Business Adviser, and Access to Finance specialist Vernon Hogg. Vernon helped Daniel establish what the investment needs were, and how funding would lead to growth. Daniel also received help with his pitch deck and business plans, and an expert review of the investment conversations he’d had already initiated.

After Vernon had established the additional support Buckt needed to scale up, he made introductions to several equity and finance providers, and Daniel presented the investment opportunity. With a little strategic chasing by Vernon, conversations between Buckt and appropriate investors progressed.

Daniel’s hard work and determination, in conjunction with the advice and support of a Business Adviser, ultimately resulted in an offer of £350,000 investment by Midlands Engine Investment Fund (managed by Midven). The investment will be used to scale the business’ operations, grow its service and to create jobs.

“The business support we received was instrumental in Buckt securing the MEIF investment. I can’t thank Vernon enough for his advice and guidance.” - Daniel Bridgewater, Founder and CEO of Buckt.
