When I began developing Findahost, the spark for the idea came from a persistent frustration: property owners and short-term hosts were juggling far too many platforms, getting lost in a maze of tools, messages, and disjointed workflows. There was no single, intuitive system that combined the demands of long-term letting, holiday-letting, and smooth owner-host collaboration. The gap was palpable and the pain very real.
Discovering the gap: what we saw & what we solved
Across markets, property managers and owners typically use separate tools for listings, guest communications, pricing, maintenance, and tenant relations. Data is fragmented, automation is minimal, and scaling becomes overwhelming. I witnessed this first-hand in conversations with hosts and clients, and through my work in tech with real estate-related projects. These experiences revealed that the missing ingredient was an integrated, intelligent platform capable of handling both long-term and short-term lettings, with automated, efficient owner-host workflows built in.
Findahost emerged as the solution: a unified platform that bridges these lettings types under one dashboard. We embed smart automation for messaging, pricing, scheduling and maintenance workflows, letting users focus on growth, service and guest satisfaction, instead of admin overhead.
Why it matters: the impact of tech + empathy
Property management is riddled with friction. Without efficient systems, small hosts suffer burnout; growth is stunted; guests, owners and contractors fall through the cracks. Our mission is to eliminate those friction points so hosts and owners can scale sustainably. Technology becomes a force multiplier, reducing errors, boosting occupancy, building trust, all while freeing up time for what really matters.
The journey: pivots, breakthroughs & learning
We didn’t get here overnight. In early stages, we built modular micro-apps; we soon realised that staying within one unified ecosystem offered far greater value. One pivot was focusing more on AI-powered automation for messaging. We discovered hosts preferred useful automation over aesthetic customisation. Another breakthrough was integrating workflows for both long-term and short-term lettings: many rivals treat them separately, but many of our users operate in both spheres.
A key turning point was when regulation in a pilot city changed mid-project. Our ability to adapt our tech stack won trust and gave us a powerful case study in resilience. Throughout, community feedback, especially from underrepresented founders, shaped features we might otherwise have overlooked.
Culture, community & belonging
My lived experience, growing up aware that representation in tech is limited, deeply colours how I build. I place strong importance on amplifying voices, mentoring, and building with humility. Peer founder groups, Black entrepreneur networks, and local community ties have been foundational; they’ve offered support, critique, encouragement and visibility. Culture isn’t just background; it’s in the very architecture of what we do.
