The Business Growth West Midlands in Walsall team recently supported Polish Bakery Mazowsze Ltd to access a £70k UKSPF ‘SME Competitiveness grant’, delivered through Business Growth West Midlands. The grant has helped towards the cost of a large batch processor to make sourdough.

On a recent visit to their factory, based near Junction 10 of the M6 in Walsall, Deputy Leader of the council Councillor Adrian Andrew was given a tour of the site, and discussed how the council can continue to support the business to grow.

It’s fantastic to see another brilliant Walsall-based business expanding their operations and thriving with help from our business growth team.

Their success helps to boost the Walsall economy and create jobs for local people. It was a pleasure to visit the factory and meet the owners, their passion is brilliant and it’s great to see in-person the kinds of high-quality goods that are made right here in the borough. I hope we can continue to support them to grow their operations in Walsall.

Established in 2006, the family-run firm, which employs nearly 70 people, creates a wide range of bread, cakes and confectionery and is one of the biggest Polish bakeries in the UK. Currently, they deliver to more than 300 recipients around the country, with most of their products being made by hand using classic methods and techniques.

The directors have ambitions to expand their workforce in due course, and potentially to relocate a further unit from Birmingham to Walsall if they can find the right site.

I’d like to thank Walsall Council’s business growth team for their support. This investment will unlock our growth into new markets, much sooner than we could have managed it without support. We're grateful for the help, and what it means for our future.
