In March 2024, amid the challenging post-pandemic economic landscape, Graham Oakley, alongside his father, established NuWash Laundry. Emerging from the closure of their previous business, Graham and his father’s new venture in Walsall is redefining sustainability and innovation in the commercial laundry industry.
A full suite of eco-friendly services
The business offers a full suite of services including wash and fold, ironing, and a tailored collection and delivery service, serving a diverse range of sectors such as hospitality, healthcare, fitness, and elderly care. Key partnerships with hotels, restaurants, gyms, and care homes have positioned NuWash as a vital component in the operational success of these industries.
Innovative environmental practices
The company’s commitment to environmental stewardship is evident in its operational practices. Graham has pioneered a proprietary technology by enabling effective washing at lower temperatures while reducing water usage significantly. Complementing this technological innovation, the business has introduced a line of eco-friendly washing powders and additives, drastically cutting down on harsh chemical use and underscoring its dedication to sustainable practices.

Rapid growth and future plans
Within just nine months of operation, NuWash Laundry has not only achieved a remarkable monthly revenue of approximately £40,000 but also expanded its workforce to include ten full-time employees and is actively recruiting additional delivery drivers to meet increasing demand. With a strategic goal to reach a £1 million turnover in the upcoming financial year, NuWash is poised for significant expansion. This includes investing in new state-of-the-art equipment and leveraging financing options such as invoice discounting to manage cash flow effectively.
