About this event

We extend a warm invitation to you to join us at WMCA, 16 Summer Lane, Birmingham, B19 3SD on Tuesday 3rd March 2026, from 2pm-4pm. WMCA hopes to gain insights from employers during this event to inform effective future commissioning activities and improve the prospects for young residents in securing sustainable good quality apprenticeships and employment.

Please note, please enter the details of the person who will be attending the event - if you are booking on behalf of a colleague, please seek their permission, and enter their details on the booking.

Themes we hope to discuss are:

  • What costs and benefits do businesses experience or expect to experience when recruiting apprentices?
  • Higher Level apprenticeships are increasing, whilst Level 2 apprenticeships have been in decline for almost a decade.
  • Why are employers choosing to upskill existing staff rather than recruiting new talent?
  • The National Minimum Wage and the National Apprentice Wage.
  • Apprenticeships as a tool to address high rates of youth unemployment.
  • Which sectors benefit most from apprenticeships?
  • How much do employers know about the support available to fund and administer apprenticeships?
  • The need for pre-apprenticeship provision in improving retention.
  • How do we ensure apprenticeships remain relevant to employers, with the rapid pace of change and innovation across the skills landscape?

We're excited to have you join us. Please click here to reserve your spot at this event.

This event is FREE to attend. It is funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and hosted by Business Growth West Midlands.
