About the opportunity
The BIPC Centre, located on Level 3 of the Library of Birmingham is a unique model that supports people from all backgrounds, to start up, protect and grow their businesses.
Delivering free 1:1 business advice and Intellectual Property advice (in person and remote), workshops, webinars and local events, the Birmingham BIPC team advise and guide throughout a potential overwhelming and challenging time. 1:1 advice is delivered by SFEDI professionally qualified advisers or trained and accredited by the Government Intellectual Property Office.
Without free access to timely, accurate information, and the expert advice and support provided by the team, which enables clients to act upon, too many businesses fail in their early stages.
BIPC Birmingham has one of the most comprehensive ranges of free business databases (for use in the Library) including Creditsafe, IBIS World, Kompass, FAME, with qualified and experienced staff on hand to guide customers through the range of resources needed to start a business. Market research databases, company information, patent searches plus books available for loan enable our customers to successfully pinpoint their customers, competitors and find an opportunity in the market. In addition, the COBRA database is the online complete business reference tool, available to any person (free of charge) to use at home or work – just by registering with Birmingham Library Service and using the library card number.
